Mortgage search - finding the best remortgage adviser

When it comes to searching for the best mortgage, you need the best remortgage adviser. Is there such a thing?

Yes!

A mortgage broker is almost always the best remortgage adviser.

A good mortgage broker will search the whole market to find you the best UK mortgage rates. Whether you are looking for a buy to let mortgage, remortgage, are purchasing your first home or moving house, don’t just opt for a Halifax mortgage because they’re the UK’s biggest mortgage lender. Make sure you seek the best advice possible.

Remortgaging means switching your mortgage to a different lender, without the need to move home. Many of us are currently paying our lender’s Standard Variable Rate (SVR), which doesn’t represent value for money. By remortgaging, you may save thousands.

Another good reason to sidestep the high street mortgage lenders is that they often advertise cheap initial rates to lure you in. After the initial deal ends, however, you may revert back to their SVR. This can mean paying as much as 2% extra interest: on a £100,000 interest-only mortgage that’s £2,000 extra a year!

Unless you organise a remortgage, you will pay more than you need to for the lifetime of your mortgage loan. Your lender won’t encourage you to stop overpaying them, so it’s up to you!

My mortgage: how much can I borrow?

When remortgaging the first thing to consider is whether you would like to borrow the same amount again or capital raise in order to afford home improvements or school fees etc.

You also need to spend time thinking about the type of mortgage you’d like. You can either opt for a fixed rate mortgage for security of payment, take a gamble with a cheaper discounted rate mortgage or go for a tracker mortgage. If you have a large amount of cash savings, then it may be advantageous for you to take a flexible mortgage or offset mortgage. Finally, decide whether to go for a repayment mortgage or interest only mortgage.

With all these decisions, it’s hardly surprising that a lot of people put off remortgaging. Which is where our mortgage broker comes in again.

A good mortgage broker will listen carefully to your requirements and find the best mortgage to suit you. Once they’ve found the right mortgage deal, all you need do is fill in the application form. Some lenders even have the facility to apply online.

So it couldn’t be easier. Let your mortgage broker do the work for you!
