L&C's social life
L&C has always had a vibrant social life, with many of the staff socialising after work, sharing flats together and attending the many activities organised at L&C. The social life is partly due to the relaxed, friendly atmosphere in which the hard work goes on in our offices, and partly due to the type of staff employed at L&C - many of whom are outgoing, competitive and enthusiastic.

One of the main social events at L&C is the annual company meeting, at which staff formally hear about the progress of the company and its future aims and goals. This event reflects the ethos at L&C: there is a really serious element of commitment and work reflected in the formal speeches at the outset of the evening, followed by a relaxed evening of entertainment, dinner and disco. |

We are fortunate at L&C to enjoy great relations with the mortgage lenders with whom we liaise. As a result, mortgage lenders often host evenings for our staff during which they may generously provide drinks and/or food. Often these evenings take place in a bar in town, facilitating attendance for all staff. These events are not only a great way to forge relationships with the mortgage lenders, but also for staff to socialise with each other. |

Often events are organised by staff at L&C, who take it upon themselves to organise a social evening. In 2004, a member of staff organised a pink party at the local pub in aid of breast cancer research, which raised £1,500. And in March 2006, two members of staff organised a spring ball at the renowned Bath Pump Rooms, which was a formal dress event with dinner and disco. |

As well as get togethers to watch football/rugby/cricket matches and the healthy competition amongst staff and directors caused by the annual Fantasy Football League at L&C, there is also an L&C football team which meets once a week at Bath University which has been running for over 6 years, plus the table tennis club. Normally, sporting life at L&C is created by demand and personal choice – for example, a member of staff is currently trying to organise a cycling club, and many staff seek sponsorship through the Social intranet folder for charity fun runs, walks etc or train together for the Bath Half Marathon. |

With all the above going on and much more, it’s easy to see why L&C is such an enjoyable place to work.
